What beverage goes well with the crowning of the new King? Pink gin, it seems. To commemorate the occasion, the Royal Collection Trust has introduced a raspberry-infused gin made with raspberries grown at Windsor Castle. It also has spiced notes of pink peppercorns and cassia bark, plus orange peel and rose petals for some sweetness. Sounds delightful, if you ask us. The suggested serving is to add 100ml of pineapple juice with 50ml of Royal Windsor Gin, poured over raspberries that have been muddled in a martini glass.
The Royal Household saw success back in 2020 with the release of their London Dry Gin. It was produced with botanicals grown on the palace grounds, including mulberry leaves and hawthorn berries. It completely sold out in just eight hours!
Here at The Hope and Anchor, we’re proud of our cocktail menu and think the following beverages are also worthy of a coronation honour:
Country House Garden Cocktail
A very English affair and perfect for celebrating the King’s Coronation, this summery cocktail features Chase GB gin, lime, St Germain Elderflower Liqueur and soda water for a refreshing tang.
Kir Royale Cocktail
The name says it all, this simple cocktail is perfect for a royal knees-up. A simple flute of bubbly prosecco topped with Crème de cassis.
Pink Lemonade Mocktail
For those who are teetotal, this sweet mocktail is a thirst-quenching alternative to alcohol. A refreshing long drink, it features cranberries and raspberries shaken over ice, then strained into a glass and topped with lemonade.
Old Fashioned Cocktail
This classic bourbon cocktail makes a great nightcap after all the celebrations are over. It contains Makers Mark, Angostura bitters and sugar, with a hint of orange zest.
If cocktails aren’t your thing, we have plenty of other alcoholic drinks available. From bottled beers to specially-sourced wines and liqueurs to spirits and ports, there’s something for everyone. We also have a wide selection of soft drinks, including non-alcoholic beers, fizzy drinks on draught or bottled, plus teas and coffees with the choice of dairy-free milk alternatives.
View our full drinks menu here. We hope to see you over the long weekend to raise a glass (or two) to our new King. Remember that we will host live music events in our bandstand throughout the summer. Check out our events page for more information on our full line-up.
Cocktail Masterclass
If you fancy making your own cocktails at home, why not learn how to make them like a professional? We offer a 2-hour masterclass for up to groups of eight people. It’s a great idea for birthday parties, stags, hens, or just a fun day out. The lesson includes a bottle of Prosecco for the group, which you can sip on as you learn about the history of cocktail making. You will also participate in a cocktail-themed quiz while tucking into bar snacks, but the main event is cocktail making! You’ll learn how to whizz up some of the world’s most renowned cocktails and then get to drink them too. For more information, click here.
